Bringing Visual Art into the Church
A resource for artists, pastors and ministry leaders
News
Laity Lodge is again hosting a retreat for artists, on Oct. 20-23. I highly recommend it for their wonderful hospitality and the inspiring sense of community. Poet Luci Shaw and author Ian Cron are the guest speakers, and Shara Worden and Nathan Brown are guest artists.
Herein you will find practical information on how one church, Hope Chapel, created an art gallery starting from bare walls, with a little money and a lot of love.
My name is Kate Van Dyke and I managed this gallery for six years.
I hope that the information here will provide some tools and encouragement to Christians who believe, as I do, that imagination and creativity are gifts of the Spirit. May you love your artists well and welcome their unique talents into the Body you serve.
Do join the forum and check out my blog to add your questions and insights to the ongoing conversation. There are so many topics I barely mention here — prayer, community, imagination, creativity, vocation, and collaboration, for example — that are vital to an arts ministry. Maybe some of these will become topics of discussion.
